AI Usage
I use generative AI in my creative process to enhance my workflow, overcome creative blocks, and explore new ideas.
These AI tools help me work more efficiently and produce higher-quality content for you.
I firmly believe that AI should be used to enhance human creativity, not to replace it.
How I use AI
- Brainstorming. When I need fresh inspiration, AI acts as my brainstorming partner, suggesting unexpected angles and approaches.
- Feedback & Refinement. AI provides valuable feedback on my writing and code, helping me identify areas for improvement.
- Summarization. AI tools help me condense long content. I may incorporate short AI-generated summaries into my final pieces to help readers decide if they want to invest to the time to read the entire piece.
- Coding. Most of my code is written by hand. AI only assists me with smaller coding tasks, like generating functions and providing feedback on my code.
- Media Generation. I may use AI to generate images, audio, and video. The primary purpose is to enhance my creative projects. While AI assists in generating media, the final selection and integration are based on my artistic judgment.
- Content Transformation. I believe AI-generated media can be invaluable for transforming content from the original format to one preferred by some people (e.g. a blog post to a podcast or audio version; an image based on the content of an article).
How I DO NOT use AI
- Final Output. I do not publish raw AI output. While I use AI during the ideation and feedback stages, AI does not, by itself, create the final work (i.e. it does not write the final article). I review, edit, and fact-check everything AI suggests to the best of my abilities, ensuring the final product reflects my voice and style.
- Facts. AI makes stuff up (it 'hallucinates'). While this is a feature, not a bug, never trust what AI says blindly. I use AI as a starting point for research, but I cross-reference facts with authoritative and reliable sources before publishing.
- Misinformation & Manipulation. I do not use AI to fabricate information or create content that is intended to mislead or deceive. I do not use AI to generate content that promotes harmful stereotypes, discrimination, or conspiracy theories. If you believe that something inaccurate on this site, please reach out so I can properly address it.
- Impersonation & Privacy. I do not use AI to impersonate real people or create content that falsely attributes statements or ideas to others. Furthermore, I don't use AI to generate content that violates the privacy of individuals, such as using their personal information or images without consent.
- Replacing Human Connection. While I use AI for efficiency, I don't use it to completely replace genuine human interaction and connection. I value feedback from real people and engage in collaborative efforts with other humans.
My AI Toolkit
- Google Gemini. My everyday tool for research, feedback, coding help, and brainstorming.
- ElevenLabs. Text to speech and AI voice generation.
- Imagen, Veo, Stability, Canva, and Photoshop. Image and video generation.
A Note on AI and Ethics
I'm committed to using AI responsibly and ethically by:
- Striving to critically evaluate the output of each model as I'm aware that AI models can sometimes reflect biases,
- Staying informed about the ongoing ethical discussions surrounding AI and adapting my practices accordingly,
- Doing my best to ensure that my use of AI-generated content doesn't result in plagiarism, and that my final work is original and properly attributed,
- Being open to adjusting my approach based on feedback from my audience on my use of AI. Feel free to drop me a line anytime.
A Tip for Fellow Creators
Use AI as a tool to enhance your creativity, but don't let it replace your own unique voice and vision.
I encourage you to experiment with different AI tools. There's always new ones coming out and existing ones change rapidly.
Find what works best for you, but always stay in the loop during your creative process.
